Cape Coral is located in SWFL on the Gulf Coast, separated from Fort Myers by the Caloosahatchee River.  Cape Coral is famous for its integrated canal systems of both freshwater and saltwater. With over 400 miles of navigable canals, Cape Coral has more canals than Venice Italy.


Cape Coral is the largest city by population in Lee County Florida, and the 8th largest city in Florida. Its population has been steadily increasing 7% annually over the past 10 years. Indeed, these increases have attracted developers and investors to the area. 

Cape Coral is a popular destination for retirees and families. For instance, the city has a warm climate, beautiful beaches, and a variety of activities and amenities. In recent years, Cape Coral has seen a number of new developments and improvements. Below is an overview of some of the latest news and updates regarding development in Cape Coral.

Housing Developments in Cape Coral

New construction continues to boom in Cape Coral and there are a number of new housing developments already completed or underway. Furthermore, these developments will add thousands of new homes to the city’s housing market. The new developments include a variety of housing types, including single-family homes, townhomes, and apartments.

Some examples of newer luxury apartment developments include Midtown Cape Coral, The Oasis at Surfside, and Coralina Apartments.

New construction single-family homes are also still on the rise. We expect the demand to continue due to the city’s increasing population. Lee County issued 670 permits in May 2023.

New Commercial Developments

Cape Coral is also seeing a number of new commercial developments. These developments will add new businesses and shops to the city. The new developments will include a variety of businesses, including restaurants, retail stores, and office space. Some hot developments in the works are Bimini Square, The Cove at 47th, and Coral Grove. 

New Infrastructure Improvements

Cape Coral is always making infrastructure improvements with new roads, bridges, and parks. Two of the biggest projects in past years were the extension of Veterans Memorial Parkway and the widening of Bayshore Boulevard. Moreover, these projects have improved traffic flow and made it easier for residents to get around the city. Additionally, the city will soon be starting the Cape Coral Bridge Project. New Schools

The number of new schools in Cape Coral has skyrocketed in recent years. Of course, the new schools help to accommodate the city’s growing population and provide residents with access to quality education. 

The Lee County school district is the ninth-largest school district in Florida, with 9 elementary, six middle and four high schools in Cape Coral.  Cape Coral also has numerous charter and private schools in the city. 

New Parks and Cape Coral Go Bond

Cape Coral is also building new parks. The city’s “Go Bond” project is a $60 million expansion of the city’s parks and recreation amenities. Indeed, the new parks will provide residents with a place to enjoy the outdoors, get some exercise and socialize with friends and family.

Cape Coral has also seen a number of new businesses and restaurants open in recent years. Specifically, the city has become a popular destination for foodies, with a variety of restaurants serving everything from seafood to pizza. Some fun and popular restaurants everyone knows in Cape Coral are: Lobster Lady, Rumrunners, Point 57, Jungle Bird Tiki, and 10 Twenty Five, just to name a few! Sage on 47th is one of the newest restaurants to open in the area.

The city is also home to a number of cultural attractions, including the Cape Coral Museum of History and the Cape Coral Arts Center.
